The Wound Management Association of Ireland was established in May 1996 by a multidisciplinary group of health care professional interested in raising the profile of wound care within Ireland.
The aims and objectives of the association thus formed are:
The education and update of wound management in order to promote the highest possible standards of wound care possible
To promote research into all aspects of wound managements
To encourage a multidisciplinary approach to wound management
To issue reports and other publications on the works of the association
The association aimed from the outset to be multidisciplinary and is therefore open to any person interested in wound care and supportive of the above objectives.
Membership entitles a person to receive details of the educational activities, publications and major conferences.
Registration to attend association educational events is either free or at a greatly reduced fee ofr members. All members also receive the 'Journal of Tissue Viability' quarterly.
In order to fulfill its objectives the association has organised itself into five regions as per map. These regions have their own organising committee and report to a 9 member central council that oversees the affairs of the association.
Northern region
Antrim, Armagh, Cavan, Derry, Down, Fermanagh, Monaghan, and Tyrone.
The Western region
Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
Midlands:
Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, and Westmeath.
Dublin-Wicklow Region:
Dublin and Wicklow
Southern Region:
Carlow, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford. |
